DJ Groove was one of, if not The First DJ to Play Hip-Hop Weekly on the Mainstream FM Radio in Montreal.
Before Facebook, Youtube and Twitter, Before Serato .. The sounds of Hip-Hop, RnB, and Reggae weren’t as common as they are today. They were actually rarely accepted in Montreal’s mainstream clubs. Even House Music, which was only played in Warehouse parties was rarely heard in the Commercial Discotheques!
DJ Groove took those sounds from the underground scene, where he was playing regularly, and brought them into the mainstream. This was so Successful and on trend that it grew into a new standard which has changed All the clubs music formats since.
Throughout the 90’s Groove was THE DJ that others watched, and listened to nightly, wanting to see and hear what he was playing. Still to this day he is credited for inspiring the DJ styles of many of Montreal’s top DJ’s.
